Online Safety

Lincolnshire Stay Safe Partnership

On Friday 1st November, Jan from the Lincolnshire Police Safety Partnership visited Cowbit St Mary's.  Jan completed an online safety workshop with children in years 1-6.

In Elm Class, Jan told us how to stay safe when playing games online such as Roblox and Minecraft.  She reminded us not to click on unfamiliar links and taught us about our online Superpowers:

Zip it

Block it

Flag it

We all know how to tell an adult or a parent if we see anything that makes us feel uncomfortable online and discuss who our 'safe adults' were.

In Maple Class, we discussed how some people have a secret identity online.  We talked about the importance of not sharing our personal information with strangers or anybody online as it could be somebody pretending to be somebody else.  We discussed the importance of not sharing:

Your name

Your address

Your school

Photographs

Age

Passwords

In Oak Class, we talked about the importance of staying safe online because we never know who it is we are talking to unless we are speaking to friends.  We talked about how people can use fake images or images of other people to pretend to be somebody else.
