Flag Fen
Maple Class visit Flag Fen
Maple Class had a brilliant visit to Flag Fen on Monday 9th December. We learnt all about the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age, which supported our learning in History. In the morning, we made clay pots in the same way a child in the Neolithic period would have done and we examined artefacts to determine which period they came from - just like archaeologists do! After lunch, we learnt how Bronze Age long boats are preserved and got to see some that were over 3,500 years old! We even sat in a replica and pretended to be a Bronze Age tribe on a fishing trip. To finish the day off, we all sat around a fire in a replica of an Iron Age roundhouse and got to listen to an exciting story involving a magical sword. The best part of it was that we got to see the real-life sword that had been discovered in the mud! It was made from bronze and iron and was huge! We all engaged well, asked amazing questions and worked brilliantly as a team.
